Overview

The Appraisal Items module in MintHCM was created to address the need for standardizing the appraisal process within the system. Its establishment stemmed from the necessity to establish a clear and systematic relationship between appraisal records and the specific criteria within which an individual, whether a candidate or an employee, is evaluated. Unlike conventional one-to-one relationships, this complex nature of linking necessitated the creation of a separate module, the Appraisal Items module.

This module functions as a bridge, connecting individual appraisal records with specific criteria represented in other modules within the system, such as Goals, Responsibilities, Competencies, Skills, Knowledge, Attitudes, or Responsibility Activities. Each record within the Appraisal Items module is associated with one record from any of these aforementioned modules, serving as the subject of the appraisal item.

Apart from standardizing the appraisal process, the Appraisal Items module offers users the advantage of reviewing criteria-related appraisal items conveniently. For example, if a record is created in the 'Skills' module and utilized in multiple appraisal processes as the subject of appraisal items, users can view all related items from different appraisal processes in the skill record's subpanel. As appraisal items contain assessments in their 'value' field, users can swiftly compare candidates or employees based on specific criteria.

Due to its specialized nature, the module is neither visible nor accessible through the standard navigation bar or global search bar. However, users can enter the module through an appraisal record's detailed view, where each appraisal item serves as a link to its specific detailed view. Once inside the module, users can easily switch to list view, edit selected records, and perform other standard actions. The module remains hidden by default because the most convenient way to manage these records is through the appraisal module or modules whose records are used as appraisal item subjects. Access to this module for standard users is maintained to ensure flexibility, but administrators have the option to restrict it via the role management panel if needed.
